Brownsworth leaving Weems Memorial Hospital this Summer

Franklin County is beginning the search for a new CEO for Weems Memorial Hospital.

Ray Brownsworth tendered his resignation to the county commission on Tuesday after about 20 months on the job.

He has overseen the local hospital since October of 2012.

Mister Brownsworth said he has accepted a position as CEO of a hospital in Iowa, which is where he was before coming to Franklin County.

He took the new position to be closer to family but says he has mixed emotions about the move because he really does like living and working in Apalachicola. 

County commissioners said Mister Brownsworth has been a real asset to the hospital and to the community.
