Swimming advisory issued for Alligator Point

A swimming advisory has been issued for Alligator Point in Franklin County and Mash’s Island in Wakulla County.

The Franklin County Health Department issued the advisories on May the 6th after water testing indicated bacteria levels that exceed state requirements.

A swimming advisory will remain in effect at Alligator Point and Mash’s Island until further notice.

It’s the only advisory in effect for Franklin County at this time and may be the first in the county this year.

Moderate concentrations of bacteria were also found at Carrabelle Beach but not enough to require a swimming advisory.

There are currently no swimming advisories in effect in Gulf County.

You can see beach water quality results for yourself on-line at the Florida Healthy beaches website.
