Food and fun await kids at Summer BreakSpot 2014

If you have kids under 18, you can make sure they get healthful meals this Summer through the 2014 Summer BreakSpot program.

The program offers free nutritious meals, recreational fun and educational activities for eligible children under 18 at more than 3,400 locations across Florida.

Last year the program provided more than 12 million meals to nearly 300,000 children throughout the summer.

Summer BreakSpot is part of the national Summer Food Service Program, a federally funded program operated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and administered in Florida by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

There are 6 locations for the Summer breakspot program in Franklin County this summer.

They include the Apalachicola bay Charter School in Apalachicola, the Learning Center in Eastpoint and the nest program sites in Carrabelle and at the Franklin county School.

The New Life First Born Church and the First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Apalachicola are also taking part.

You can find locations around the state and much more information about the program on-line at http://www.summerfoodflorida.org/
