NORTHWEST REGION

JACKSON COUNTY

Officers Guy, Mims, Brower, as well as an Officer from Chatahoochee Hospital, responded to a search and rescue call out around 1:00 am.  Four people were stranded on top of the Jim Woodruff Dam after their vessel sank on Lake Seminole.  One person was able to climb to safety to get help, leaving the other three stuck on top of one of the overflow gates.  Officer Mims was able to get two victims on his vessel, but one female was trapped on another platform eight feet below and unable to climb to the top.  Officer Brower fastened two sections of rope creating a safety line and, after securely tying the line around himself, Officer Guy lowered himself down to the ledge.  After tying one of the lines around the female, all three officers helped raise her to safety. The officers then carried all three victims to shore.  No one was injured, and Officer Guy handled the boating accident.
