Franklin County will hold a
public meeting this afternoon at 5 so the public can comment on the county’
plan to get a USDA loan for renovations and expansion at Weems memorial
Hospital in Apalachicola.
The county is seeking a 10 and a
half million dollar loan renovate patient rooms and build a 19 thousand square
foot addition to the hospital.
The new construction would
provide space for additional lab and outpatient services.
The county has applied for the
construction loan through the USDA Rural development Community Facilities
Direct and Guaranteed Loans Program.
The loan application is currently
under review and part of the review process is a required public meeting so the
public can voice their opinions on the plan.
So if you would like to comment
either for or against the loan or just want to learn more about the proposed
work at the hospital, make sure to come to the meeting this afternoon.
It starts at 5 PM and will be
held at the Franklin County courthouse Annex in Apalachicola.
