NOAA considers plan to cut bag limit for red grouper

NOAA Fisheries is looking for a public comment on a proposal to cut in half the daily bag limit for red grouper in the Gulf of Mexico.
NOAA fisheries plans to establish a two-fish red grouper recreational bag limit down from the current four-fish limit.
The rule change would also remove an existing accountability measure that reduces the red grouper recreational bag limit when the previous year's annual catch limit has been exceeded – that would no longer be needed with the bag limit cut.
They said the bag limit reduction is intended to improve recreational fishing opportunities by extending the number of days in the fishing season.

You can find more information about making public comments on the NOAA Fisheries website.
