Local unemployment ticks up in January

Unemployment in Franklin County increased from 5.2 to 5.6 percent in January.
Labor statistics released Tuesday show 270 people looking for work in Franklin County in January; that’s 19 more than in December.
The workforce also decreased by 9 people.
Nineteen counties had lower unemployment rates than Franklin County in January.
Unemployment in Gulf County rose from 5.4 to 5.9 percent.
363 people were looking for work in Gulf County in January.
Wakulla County continues to have one of the lowest unemployment rates in Florida at 4.9 percent - in Liberty County unemployment jumped from 5.3 to 6.3 percent.
