A former correctional officer at the state prison in Wakulla
County was arrested Friday on charges he was paid to bring tobacco into the
facility.
Shannon Curry, was
charged with introduction of contraband into a prison facility and unlawful
compensation by a public official.
The
charges stem from an incident which occurred on June 8th, 2015 at the Wakulla
Correctional Institution.
Curry
was intercepted during a routine search trying to bring tobacco into the
facility.
An
investigation found that he had been bringing in contraband items over an
extended period of time and getting paid to do it.
Curry
resigned immediately following the incident.
