Gulf Council to Convene a Meeting of its Reef Fish Advisory Panel
The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council has scheduled a meeting of its Reef Fish Advisory Panel September 16 - 17, 2015 at the Gulf Council office - 2203 N. Lois Avenue, Suite 1100, Tampa, Florida. The meeting will begin Wednesday, September 16, at 8:30 am and will conclude no later than noon Thursday, September 17.
After selecting a Chair and Vice Chair, the Advisory Panel will review and provide recommendations on a Public Hearing Draft of Amendment 39 - Regional Management of Recreational Red Snapper, and review a recent stock assessment on gray triggerfish.
The panel will also review and discuss a Public Hearing Draft on a Joint Amendment to Require Electronic Reporting for Charter Vessels and Headboats. Other items on the agenda include discussion on:
- Options Paper on a Framework Action to set the gag recreational season and gag and black grouper minimum size limits
- Draft Framework Action to modify gear restrictions for yellowtail snapper
- Draft Options Paper on an amendment defining west Florida's shelf hogfish stock and setting the annual catch limits (ACL) and status determination criteria
- Draft Options Paper to modify mutton snapper ACLs and establish commercial and recreational management measures
- Coral Habitat Areas of Particular Concern
- South Florida Management Issues
- Southeast Data and Review Schedule
