Two Panacea residents were arrested in connection with an undercover methamphetamine investigation and the execution of a search warrant by the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit on Wednesday, Sept. 2, according to Sheriff Charlie Creel.
Gerald Griffith Middleton, 55, was alone at a home at 228 Otter Lake Road at the time WCSO deputies served the search warrant. Middleton was secured inside the home without incident as the search warrant was served. He was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Middleton had methamphetamine in his pocket at the time of his arrest. The illegal narcotics were ready for consumption by injection. During a search of the residence items used for the consumption of illegal narcotics were found throughout the home.
Deputies discovered 2.1 grams of a white powdery substance that tested positive for methamphetamine on a couch. Items associated with the manufacture of methamphetamines were discovered inside the home and fuel cans were discovered outside the home. The items were seized and turned over to the
Evidence Division and chemicals seized from the residence were packaged for destruction.

In a related arrest, Patricia Dawn Morgan, 38, of Panacea was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession of narcotics equipment at 201 Jer-Be-Lou Circle in Panacea.
While serving the search warrant at Middleton’s home, deputies discovered that Morgan had been consuming illegal narcotics at the Jer-Be-Lou Circle address. Morgan admitted that she and Middleton had consumed methamphetamines earlier in the day.
Morgan gave consent to search her home. Needles, methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia were discovered in the home. She was arrested for possession of methamphetamines and possession of drug paraphernalia. The methamphetamines were weighed at 18.4 grams.
Both Middleton and Morgan were transported to the Wakulla County Jail without incident. They are both being held in the jail under a $10,500 bond.
“We are going after meth hard and if you do it you will be caught,” said Sheriff Creel. “These are dangerous materials that impact lots of people. If you know of anyone doing meth, call the WCSO anonymously. If they blow their house up, it might burn your house down too.”
