Rick Watson sworn in to office on Tuesday

Franklin County’s newest county commissioner was sworn in to office on Tuesday.

Rick Watson from St. George Island was sworn in at Tuesday’s county commission meeting by county judge Van Russell.

He was named by the governor to represent District 1 – that announcement was made late Monday afternoon.

The District 1 seat has been vacant since August 21^st when former commissioner Pinki Jackel was named to serve as Franklin County’s Supervisor of Elections.

Mister Watson’s term will end on November 15th, 2016.
