The comment period for the Master
Water Control Manual for the Apalachicola Chattahoochee Flint River System has
been extended again.
This is the second
extension – people now have through January the 30th to send their
comments to the US Army Corps of Engineers.
The Corps said the
extension was requested to give groups more time to read and discuss the
complex plan.
The Master
Water Control Manual is the guide used by Corps of Engineers to operate the
five reservoirs on the Chattahoochee River.
The proposed
manual has received criticism from Florida officials because it does not
require enough freshwater flow to protect the Apalachicola Bay and its oyster
industry.
If
you would like to see the proposed master water control manual for yourself,
its on-line at the Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District website.
