The cities of Apalachicola and Port St. Joe are among 80
communities around the state being recognized as a healthy weight community
Champions.
The Florida
Department of Health is recognizing the cities as well Gulf County as a whole for
their work to increase physical activity and improve nutrition for their
residents.
The Community Champions
program is part of the Healthiest Weight Florida initiative, a public-private
collaboration to help Floridians make informed choices about healthy eating and
active living.
State Surgeon
General John Armstrong said “By working toward creating healthy environments,
these local governments have shown their commitment to improving the health of
all Floridians.”
