Oyster licenses are now on sale at Franklin's Promise office

Thursday is the last day to purchase your Apalachicola Bay Oyster Harvesting license before the 500 dollar late fee takes effect.

You have to have the license to commercially harvest oysters from the Apalachicola Bay System beginning July 1st.

The licenses cost of 100 dollars for Florida residents and 500 dollars for non-residents.

Starting today the licenses will be sold at the Franklin’s Promise Office at the old Apalachicola High School on 14th street in Apalachicola.

The location was moved to handle the crowds that are expected this week.

If you waited till the last week, remember you also have to take a 20 minute seminar before you can buy the license.

The seminar is required by the Federal Food and Drug Administration for all oyster harvesters.

The seminar is being shown all day today, Wednesday and Thursday at the Franklin’s Promise Office .

The seminar is also available on-line at www.myfwc.com/shellfish.
