Don't underestimate the drawing power of Franklin County, Florida

People are showing a growing interest in Franklin County.
Bed tax revenues are up 13% over 2015 so far this year, according to the latest state collection figures released by the Franklin County Tourist Development Council.

The TDC has also seen increased visitor center check-ins, more website visits and a growing number of people signing up to receive information about the area.

The TDC said more than 1600 visitors checked into one of the four visitor centers in Apalachicola, Carrabelle, Eastpoint and St. George Island during September and more than 20 thousand people have stopped at one of the centers since the beginning of the year.

Traffic to the TDC’s website Saltyflorida.com has also increased also with an average of more than 21,000 visits to the website each month - hits to the website are strongest from potential visitors interested in places to stay.

The Tourist Development Council continues to look for new ways to draw attention to Franklin County.

The TDC’s marketing plans for 2017 will include rolling out a new website, hosting a series of six Coastal Getaway contests, and funding of some new techie-themed events including a Pokemon Go event and a geo-cache contest.

The TDC also approved funding to market a month-long series of activities and events next April for the promotion and preservation of Apalachicola’s historic shotgun houses.
