Third time's a charm; Alan Pierce retires from County employment

County Commissioners said a tearful good-bye to long-time county worker Alan Pierce on Friday.

Alan's official last day as a county employee was September 30th after 29 years of service.

He began working for the county in 1988 as the county planner but over the years his job description was expanded to encompass many aspects of county government.

Commissioner Cheryl Sanders called him one of the most knowledgeable people about all area of Franklin County and thanked him for his dedication and hard work.

Much of Alan's duties are now handled by Michael Moron who was hired in 2015 as the County Coordinator.

Mister Pierce stayed on to make sure there was a smooth transition and to represent Franklin county in issues relating to the BP oil spill.

He will continue to assist the county as a part-time consultant.
