The Property Appraiser in Wakulla County was arrested Friday on two counts of organized scheme to defraud and was subsequently suspended from office by Governor Ron Desantis.

Brad Harvey was arrested for felony charges of organized scheme to defraud more than $50,000 and organized scheme to defraud $20,000 or more.

Harvey is charged with making almost $27,000 in fraudulent charges on his government-issued credit card and paying himself over 176 thousand dollars more than his allowed salary.

In 2018 his salary was over 108 thousand dollars.

The problems were discovered by office staff and were taken to the Wakulla County Sheriff's office.

In September 2019, the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office referred the investigation to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Harvey was booked into the Wakulla County Jail on Friday.

Gov. Ron DeSantis issued an executive order Friday evening indefinitely suspending Harvey from office without pay.
