Franklin County beaches and boat ramps will reopen at noon today

Franklin County beaches and boat ramps will reopen at noon today.

Franklin County commissioners voted this morning to reopen the beaches to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The beaches were closed to the public on March 30th to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

The beaches were partially reopened for a few hours a day on May the 4th.

The board also agreed to remove its ban on out-of-county visitors from local boat ramps.

That ban took effect on April the 9th.

Commissioners pointed out that similar re-openings were happening in neighboring counties and in state parks and forests.

Commissioners did point out that things could change if we see a local spike in COVID-19 cases and they will discuss the issue again at their next meeting on May the 19th.
