Franklin County beaches and boat ramps
will reopen at noon today.
Franklin County commissioners voted
this morning to reopen the beaches to the public 24 hours a day, 7
days a week.
The beaches were closed to the public
on March 30th to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
The beaches were partially reopened for
a few hours a day on May the 4th.
The board also agreed to remove its ban
on out-of-county visitors from local boat ramps.
That ban took effect on April the 9th.
Commissioners pointed out that similar
re-openings were happening in neighboring counties and in state parks
and forests.
Commissioners did point out that things
could change if we see a local spike in COVID-19 cases and they will
discuss the issue again at their next meeting on May the 19th.
