Franklin County Emergency Management BURN ADVISORY

Because of the fire that started Wednesday May 6, 2020 possibly from sparks from a trailer being pulled, a grass fire started in the area of Bay North on HWY 98 and Leonard’s landing. Florida Forestry Service will not be authorizing any burn permits at this time. Franklin County Fire index went from low yesterday to moderate today. The Emergency Management office has issued a burn advisory. With the drought conditions being expected to worsen over the spring months and multiple Wildfires burning west of us at this time.

On behalf of the Franklin County Commissioners, Carrabelle Forestry Division and the Franklin County Sheriff’s office and our local Volunteer Fire departments this office would like to ask the public, please be responsible with fire this season. If you have a campfire, burning yard trash, deposing of grill coals please extinguish completely before leaving the site. Never leave a Fire unattended!
