Gulf Council to Hold a Webinar Meeting of its Standing, Reef Fish, and Socioeconomic Scientific and Statistical Committees
 
The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council's Standing, Reef Fish, and Socioeconomic Scientific and Statistical Committees will convene via webinar from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM on Monday, June 1, 2020.  The Committees will focus on reviewing SEDAR 67, the Gulf of Mexico Vermillion Snapper Stock Assessment.  It will discuss the status of the vermillion snapper stock which includes an analysis of stock size relative to the overfished threshold and harvest rates as they relate to the overfishing threshold. The Committees will also consider yield projections of future harvest for vermillion snapper, and make recommendations for the overfishing limit and acceptable biological catch to the Council.

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council is one of eight regional Fishery Management Councils established by the Fishery Conservation and Management Act of 1976. The Council prepares fishery management plans, which are designed to manage fishery resources within the 200-mile limit of the Gulf of Mexico.
