April 18th – 24th is National Volunteer Week, five years ago The Apalachicola Bay chamber of Commerce began the Apalachicola Bay Chamber Volunteer of the Year Award. This award recognizes the many men and women who give up their time away from family and friends to make our community a better to place to live. This year the Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the 2021 Volunteer of the Year Sheryl Clouse and the 2021 Lifetime Volunteer Ted Mosteller. The Chamber would like to thank them for their dedication to volunteering in our community. Volunteers are the heart of our community; we are blessed to have such a vibrant and active volunteer force. There are so many volunteers in our community it is very difficult to choose just one or two. We feel Sheryl and Ted are great representatives for our volunteers. Both awardees commented “there is so many more deserving people to receive this” Yes and that is what makes you deserving of it as well, it’s the thought of others. The awards were presented by President of the Chamber Donna Duncan, and Executive Director John Solomon. In attendance was the previous winners of the award and members of the Chamber Board.
We would also like to thank the Franklin County Commission, The Apalachicola & Carrabelle City Commissions as well as Governor Ron DeSantis for signing proclamations recognizing volunteers in Franklin County during National Volunteer Week.
Volunteer by definition is: a person who does something, especially helping other people, willingly and without being forced or paid to do it.
2021 Volunteer of the Year Sheryl Clouse. Sheryl has been a dedicated volunteer for many years in Franklin County this past year she and her team were instrumental in being in charge of the online auction for the St. George Island Fire Department which raised over $50,000. Sheryl has also been very active in the Franklin Needs Pink Out! And the Pork off for Pink Out for Breast Cancer research. As well Sheryl volunteers for the Brew Fest which benefits the Humane Society of Franklin County. “Her unselfish dedication to helping franklin county proves she is truly deserving of this honor” (John Solomon Chamber Director)

2021 Lifetime Volunteer Ted Mosteller. Ted Mosteller is the true meaning of Lifetime Volunteer. He has Donated his time for 56 years to the Florida Seafood Festival as a volunteer board member. He has been volunteered for the local airport, Methodist church, Chamber of Commerce, public fundraisers etc for over 50 years. “He volunteers without question every time he is asked. It goes without saying he has spent a lifetime providing service to others.” John Solomon
