Franklin County commissioners on Tuesday took a moment to remember Israelle (Izzy) Mattocks from Indiana who passed away from cancer on April the 1st.

Izzy was diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroblastoma on December 23rd, 2011 when she was just three years old; she turned 13 on March the 11th.

There is no known cure for that type of cancer.

Izzy and her family were able to spend much of February on St. George Island, thanks to the kindness of Nicki West who offered her beach home on the island.

While she was here she was able to take part in a number of activities provided by local people and businesses including a police escort with lights flashing to her beach house.

At the house they found numerous gifts, activities and giftcards waiting for them, all from strangers who just want them to enjoy their time and not worry about a thing.

She was also able to take part in a hot air balloon ride, a swim with dolphins and a llama was brought to the island for an early birthday party.

A celebration of Izzy's life was held on Monday.
