Franklin County on Tuesday added new members to serve on the county's animal control appeals board

Franklin County added new members to serve on the county's animal control appeals board.

The 5 member appeals board hears cases regarding animals that have been ruled dangerous and decides what action should be taken to control the animal.

They also hear appeals from pet owners who feel their pets have been classified incorrectly.

In recent years the board has lost several members and animal control director Fonda Davis said there is one case pending, and the board needs to have at least three members to hear the appeal.

Under the county animal control ordinance, the board has to include at least one member with an understanding of animal behavior, one law enforcement officer, a veterinarian, a public health official and one citizen member.

Fonda offered a list of potential members including Bud Hayes, John Solomon, Hobson Fulmer, David Waker and Brett Mabry.

The vote was unanimous to name those members to the animal control appeals board.
