2021 Carrabelle River Front Festival After more than a year without festivals, we are looking forward to participating in the 30th annual Carrabelle River Front Festival which is being held on Marine St on Saturday, May 12th from 10 am-6 pm. The Humane  Society will be set up in front of Coastal Cottage Living, a fantastic store and huge supporter of the Humane Society.  We will be there with dogs, cats, puppies and kittens available for adoption as well as our newly designed T-shirts.   This festival is sure to be a fun and family friendly event and a wonderful opportunity to get out, see old friends, eat good food, play a few games and support the Humane Society.  See you there! Kitten Season It's that time of year again....kitten season.  We, along with every other shelter in the south, are overloaded with kittens.  They come in with their moms and they come in without their moms.  They come in with their littermates and they come in alone.  Some have to be bottle fed, some can eat on their own.  Some are tame and some are feral.  What do they all have in common?  An unaltered mama.  We want to remind everyone that we have a spay/neuter voucher program which allows residence of Franklin County to have their cat or kitten spayed or neutered for only $25.00.  Kittens should be spayed by 5 months of age because that is when they can come into heat.  We see babies having babies all the time. If you are feeding a stray cat, you are responsible for it and that includes having it altered.  If you don't have it fixed, you are contributing to the overpopulation of cats in the county.  Remember, a fed feral is a breeding feral. We applaud you for feeding homeless kittles, but don't stop there.  Come to the shelter with your 25.00 co-pay and get your cat and the ones you are feeding, altered and a rabies vaccination.  We have donation jars in many businesses throughout the county.  That money funds our voucher program so please donate when you see one of our jars.  If you would like to mail a donation specifically for the program, please send to: 244 HWY 65, Eastpoint, FL 32328 and make a notation on the memo line. If we all do our part, we can make a huge impact on the homeless cat population in Franklin County. 2021 SGI Brewfest The SGI Brewfest is a one-day beer tasting festival to promote the appreciation of craft beer. All proceeds benefit the Franklin County Humane Society. 2021 will be our 5th year. This year’s event features an even broader selection of amazing craft beers, friendly faces and furry friends. This is a very limited engagement and tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets will not be sold at the door. This event will SELL OUT, so buy your tickets early! The SGI Brewfest will be held on Saturday, October 16th, 2021 from 1:00-4:00pm (Eastern) in our new location at the public parking area adjacent to SGI Lighthouse Park on St. George Island. VIP and early admission ticket holders will be granted access at noon. Purchase tickets by visiting our website: sgibrewfest.com.  Beers, beaches, and bettering the lives of animals. What’s not to love? All Brewfest attendees must be 21+ including designated drivers. Children and adults under 21 years of age are not permitted at this event. This event will be held rain or shine – No Refunds. Whare are they now? Ronan was brought to us by a neighbor of his owner after she witnessed Ronan being beaten with a metal rod.  Ronan had been neglected and abused and thankfully the owner agreed to give him up. He arrived with lacerations on his back and very thin.  He was hungry, tired and in pain but allowed us to care for his wounds without a complaint. He settled in and seemed relieved to have a warm, safe and comfortable place to lay his head. After several weeks of care, we posted his picture on face book and as so many of you do, his picture and story were shared many times.  A friend of one of our followers called to inquire about him.  This friend lives in Michigan.  We told him we don't transport but that wasn't a problem, he would make the trip with his family to adopt our sweet, gentle Ronan.
