Weekly news, Chamber and Member Events from the Wakulla County Chamber of Commerce

President's Message

Another month is rolling around, and hopefully we will see some sunshine in May so we can enjoy some time out on the water, along with visitors enjoying their time on our rivers and in our bay, stopping along the way to shop at our local businesses.
Speaking of businesses, we had three new businesses join the chamber this month: Drop with Mel, LLC, - Melissa has been a long - time member as a representative of other companies but has recently created her own LLC and sells weight loss drops and nutritional supplements along with providing excellent support during your weight loss journey. We look forward to hearing more about that when we hold a ribbon cutting and interview. Dixie Pest Elimination’s Doug Morgan has been working in the filed since 1979 and formed his own company in 2012. Doug offers commercial pest elimination for restaurants, hotels, & general businesses as well as residential services offering monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly services. Camellia Cottage Day Spa, owned by Sonjia Raffield, purchased the building Dazzles currently occupies and offers signature skincare treatments, Collagen Induction Therapy and Dermaplaning, with deep tissue massage coming in the near future.

We also held ribbon cuttings for PhantaSea Day Spa, offering personal services like manicures, pedicures, relaxation massages etc., and the new T-Mobile store in Crawfordville.  We are a growing community, and this attracts new businesses who will be competing for clients with their counterparts in Tallahassee. Granted, not everything we need is offered here but we need to shop locally, use local services, and eat at local restaurants to keep them open and contribute to our local tax base rather than sending it up the road! You know what they say: Use them or lose them!
