The Florida Seafood festival has chosen its queen

The Florida Seafood festival has chosen its queen.

18 year old Jaydn Luberto, who is a freshman at Gulf Coast State College was crowned queen this week.

She is the daughter of Willie and Misty Luberto and lives in Apalachicola.

The Seafood Festival board decided to allow seniors from the class of 2021 to compete this year since they did not get an opportunity to last year.

There were 3 young ladies that competed - Marina O'Neal, Sydney Shuman, and Jadyn Luberto.

Since there were fewer than 5 contestants there was no pageant.

Everything was done virtually except the crowning which was held Monday at Riverfront Park in Apalachicola.

There were three categories that included a filmed introduction video, a sales pitch where each girl gave her best sales pitch about the festival to convince someone why they should attend, and there was a 10 minute interview with 3 out of town judges.

The title comes with a 1000 dollar scholarship.

As queen, Jaydn will officially open the event, as well as head up the annual parade.

And along with King Retsyo, she’ll ride in the front boat during the blessing of the fleet, and oversee the oyster shucking and oyster eating contests.
