Gulf County Sheriff's officials on Monday arrested 2 men in a vehicle stolen from Panama City and say the men are involved in a string of car burglaries at Cape San Blas



 


Gulf County Sheriff's officials on Monday arrested 2 men in a vehicle stolen from Panama City and say the men are involved in a string of car burglaries at Cape San Blas.


Around 8:30 Monday morning, deputies assisted Port St. Joe Police Officers who were in pursuit of the stolen vehicle on the service road that runs adjacent to the railroad tracks towards State Road 71.


The passenger, 36 year old J-Babe Williams, jumped out in an attempt to flee and was arrested by Port St. Joe Police officers.


The driver, 29 year old Rasha Jahaad Cummings, drove the stolen vehicle into a ditch and fled on foot.


He was arrested a short time later in the wooded area of Avenue A and State road 71.


While deputies were involved in the pursuit, the sheriff's office received numerous complaints of vehicle burglaries at Cape San Blas.


A total of ten vehicle burglaries were reported with items such as cash, credit cards, personal identifying information and a firearm taken from the vehicles.


Each vehicle was reported to be unlocked at time of the crimes and no forced entry to a vehicle was made.


Officials did find the stolen items including the firearm in the vehicle.


Cummings and Williams remain in custody at the Gulf County Detention Facility and additional criminal charges related to the vehicle burglaries are forthcoming.
