Franklin County will have to cut back on how much of County Road 30-A it can resurface.
Earlier this month, the Franklin County Commission opened bids for 5.2 miles of widening and resurfacing on CR 30A.
The low bid of $4.8 million dollars was $1.3 million dollars more than the available grant funds and the Department of Transportation does not have the money to make up that difference, and neither does the County.
Instead the county commission rejected all of the bids and now plan to rebid the project with a reduced scope of work to fit within the grant.
That will reduce the area to be repaved to just over 3 miles, from 13 mile to the area that was washed out during hurricane Michael.
Franklin County will have to apply for a second grant to have the final portion of the road repaved.
