Local residents will get a chance to bid on surplus county property early next year

Local residents will get a chance to bid on surplus county property early next year.

Last week Franklin County signed a contract with the Florida Auction Network to hold an on-site auction within the county with items from multiple government agencies and utility companies.

Franklin County is currently working to compile a list of surplus equipment and vehicles which will have to be approved by the county commission in early January before being released to the auctioneer.

The City of Apalachicola and the school district will also be taking part, and there could be some slightly used ambulances to bid on.

The auctioneer fee will be 5% of the gross sales price of any item and Florida Auction Network will handle all advertising, administration, accounting and title work at the sale.

The exact date of the auction has not yet been set.
