Red Tide is now gone from local waters.

Red Tide is an organism known a Karenia Brevis that in large enough concentrations releases a neurotoxin that can kill fish and even affect people.

It was first found in local waters in late September and at one point was killing thousands of fish and keeping people away from the beaches.

On Friday the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission released its most recent testing information – there were no positive samples found in Franklin, Gulf or Wakulla Counties.

It is still being seen in some areas of Northwest Florida including Pasco and Okaloosa Counties.
