 An EF-1 tornado landed on Dog Island Saturday night, damaging one home and damaging trees and power lines.


The National Weather service said the tornado landed on the southeast coastal side of Dog island at 12:22 a.m. Sunday bringing wind speeds as high as 95 miles an hour.


The twister damaged a home; The roof was partially torn off with significant damage to the porch.


It also damaged trees and power lines and knocked out power to 97 Duke Energy Customers on Dog Island.


The tornado exited the island at 12:26 a.m.


The tornado was part of a series of storms that crossed our area on Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
