The Coast Guard rescued two men on Saturday from a 42-foot sailing vessel 57 miles south of Apalachicola.
The boat was caught in bad weather - Coast Guard Sector Mobile watchstanders reported 34 mph winds and 10-foot seas.
The rescued men are 72 year old Richard Moore and 77 year old John Ulrich.
An Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew arrived on scene, hoisted the two mariners, and safely transferred them to Air Station Clearwater with no medical concerns.
Coast Guard Lt. Jonathan Ray said it’s fortunate they arrived on scene when they did because the weather was getting worse by the minute.
The boat washed up on St. George Island, local authorities will coordinate commercial salvage operations to remove the vessel from the water.
