Franklin County commissioners have awarded a contract to Dewberry Engineers to provide civil engineering services for upgrades to the boat ramp at the St. George Island fishing pier.
Dewberry was the only company to provide qualifications for the job.
The project includes the design and permitting of a wave attenuation device and a boat loading dock on the seawall outside of the existing boat ramp.
The improvements will protect the existing boat launch basin and provide a place to tie up vessels while the vehicles and trailers are parked or retrieved.
The work will be completed at a cost of $85,000 with $80,000 being reimbursed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Boating Improvement Design Grant and $5,000 paid by the County’s Boating Improvement Fund.
Dewberry has 360 days to complete the design and permitting.
