Recreational harvest of speckled trout will close in the Western Panhandle management zone on February the 1st

Recreational harvest of speckled trout will close in the Western Panhandle management zone on February the 1st.

The western panhandle management zone reaches from Escambia County through Gulf County but does not include Indian Pass or Indian Lagoon.

Spotted seatrout harvest will reopen in the western panhandle region on March 1st.

The February closure is a way to protect the speckled trout population from overfishing.
