Cheerleaders plan pink flamingo fundraiser

The Franklin County Middle School Cheerleaders have a novel idea for a fundraiser this summer. The girls are trying to raise money to attend cheerleader camp at Auburn University this year where they can learn more about cheers, chants and extreme stunting. To raise money the girls are doing a Flamingo Flocking FUNdraiser. The idea is to fill a person's yard with a flock of pink plastic flamingoes and then, for a donation, the flock will be removed and sent on to another house the homeowner recommends. The hope is that the yard will look so hideous with the pink birds that the homeowner will be more than happy to give a donation toward the fundraiser to get them out of their yard and into the next person of their choice. The cheerleaders say they don’t know who the first victim will be – but hope that people realize the fundraiser is in good fun and will be to make a minimum donation of $10.00 in order to send the flamingoes to another home. If you would like to make a cash donation without the flamingoes, or just have questions, call Coaches Stephanie Howze at (850) 653-5633.
