Get outside on Saturday
This Saturday is “Get Outdoors Day”, and state parks in our area have plenty to offer to keep you out of the house. Florida has 160 state parks, numerous state trails and 41 aquatic preserves which offer many recreational opportunities for citizens and visitors to get outdoors and experience the state’s natural treasures. Special events taking place outdoors in our area on Saturday include an early boat tour at Wakulla Springs State Park. The event will start at 8:00 a.m. with breakfast at the Wakulla Springs Lodge and an early morning cruise of the scenic Wakulla River. You can make reservations by calling 926-0700. The Maclay Gardens State Park in Tallahassee is offering a rain garden workshop from 10 to 11:30. The program is free with paid park admission. Or you can just stay in the county and go swimming, hiking or kayaking at the State parks at St. George Island or Bald Point in Franklin County or the State Park at Cape San Blas in Gulf County.
