State park fees increase Wednesday

Using some of the services in Florida’s state parks will cost a little more beginning tomorrow. The Florida Park Service says it will begin a modest fee increase beginning Wednesday, July 1st. State park officials say the additional state park user fees will help maintain the state’s natural and cultural resources within Florida’s 160 state parks. It’s the first fee update in five years. Some of the most common fees that will change include increasing the Day-use entrance fee for vehicles with up to eight people from anywhere from 1 to 3 dollars depending on the park. The cost to get into the St. George Island State Park, the St. Joseph Peninsula State Park and the Wakulla Spring State Park will be 6 dollars per car. The Orman house and the John Gorrie museum in Apalachicola will cost 2 dollars per person. Camping fees around the state will rise an average of $4.00 per night and Cabin rental fees will increase10.00 per night. The cost of an annual Pass will go up to $60.00 for individuals and $120.00 for families up to eight people.
