Gulf County homeowners allowed to build homes past coastal control line

Gulf County beachfront property owners will have the right to build single-family homes near the beach even after the county adopts a coastal construction control line. Gulf County is in the process of implementing a coastal control line now. Governor Charlie Crist last week signed House bill 1369 into law which allows the Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection to issue building permits for single-family homes in fragile beach-dune systems in Gulf County where construction would otherwise fall under a stricter set of guildelines. The rule primarily affects homes in Cape San Blas.
