Two swimming advisories in Franklin County this week
There are two swimming advisories in Franklin County again this week. Swimmers who jump in the Gulf of Mexico are advised against swimming at Alligator Point and at Carrabelle Beach. It’s the 20th advisory issued for Carrabelle beach this year and the 23rd for Alligator Point. The advisories were issued after moderate to high concentrations of the enterococcus bacteria were found in water samples taken on Monday. That bacteria indicates either human or animal waste in the water. There were also advisories issued for the 2 beaches monitored in Wakulla County which are Mash’s island and Shell Point; the Gulf County swimming advisory report has not yet been released.
