FWC keeps watch over oyster harvesting

FWC officers are keeping a tight watch on oyster harvesters in the Apalachicola Bay. Officers conducted a shellfish inspection last week in Apalachicola Bay. The officers boarded fourteen vessels and inspected forty-five harvesters. Officers issued two uniform boating citations and four resource citations for violations pertaining to insufficient boating safety equipment, no saltwater products license and no Apalachicola Bay oyster permit. The officers also caught two harvesters that had active arrest warrants out of Gulf County. The two were arrested and transported to the Franklin County Jail to await extradition on the warrants.
