Local blood donors turn out in big numbers
Blood donors from across Franklin County came out in force to a blood drive in Apalachicola on Monday. The drive netted 64 units of blood, though more than 70 people turned out to donate through the day. That’s nearly double the numbers that attend regular blood drives that are held every two months in the county. Many came Monday to donate blood in the name of Apalachicola resident Wallace Hill who currently needs blood on a regular basis. The Southeastern Community Blood Center said that the 64 units collected Monday was likely a record for a stand alone blood drive in Franklin County. For people who were unable to attend Monday’s blood drive, there is also a drive going on today in Carrabelle. That drive is being held from 9 until 3 in front of the Carrabelle branch of the Franklin County public Library.
