County commission to consider MSBU and other issues on Tuesday

Franklin County commissioners will continue a public hearing Tuesday morning to consider increasing the county’s MSBU assessment. The board has tentatively agreed to increase the amount homeowners pay for fire protection from 42 dollars to 50 dollars a year and to increase the minimum trailer parks and motels pay to 100 dollars. The proposed changes would also create an assessment for undeveloped lots in the county for 10 dollars a year. Dot Bless from the Lanark Village Association will also attend Tuesday’s county commission meeting to discuss Lighting in Lanark Village, Keith McCarron of the Apalachee Regional Planning Council will discuss the Department of Transportation five year work plan and State Representative Leonard Bembry will address the Board on Legislative Issues. The county will also look at the qualifications of a number of engineering firms interested in working on local sidewalk projects funded through federal stimulus money. The county Commission meeting is open to the public – it begins at 9 tomorrow morning at the Franklin County Courthouse Annex in Apalachicola.
