Heavy rains close a portion of Apalachicola Bay to oyster harvesting

A portion of the Apalachicola Bay is closed to Oyster harvesting today after heavy rains drenched our area Wednesday night. The Department of Agriculture closed the conditionally approved summer north area of the bay at sunset Thursday. That’s area 1652. The area will remain closed to oyster harvesting while biologists test water quality at the sites.
