Registration and license fees will increase next week

The cost for a driver’s license or a new car tag will nearly double next week. The cost of a class E driver’s license will jump from 27 to 48 dollars; the cost of a commercial license will move from 67 to 75 dollars. The price to register a vehicle will more than double from 100 dollars to 225 dollars. The Florida legislature this year voted to raise the prices to help make up a 3 billion dollar budget shortfall. The increased fees are expected to raise about 800 million dollars a year. Many people are renewing their licenses before the higher fees take effect. If your driver’s license expires before February 2011 you can renew it before Tuesday and avoid paying the higher cost. For a full list of the new fees, CLICK HERE.
