Bembry seeks to end vehicle fee increases

State Representative Leonard Bembry is seeking to reverse recent increases in vehicle fees. The cost for a driver’s license and new car tags nearly doubled on September the 1st. The increases were approved by the Florida legislature this year to help make up a 3 billion dollar budget shortfall. Representative Bembry was one of the few to vote against the measure, arguing instead that the state should cut spending as opposed to raising fees. Last week Representative Bembry threw his support behind House Bill 99 which would return vehicle registration and title fees and driver’s license fee back to their pre-September levels. The bill will be brought before the legislature next year.
