Commercial King Mackerel season closed in western gulf

Commercial fishing for king mackerel in the western Gulf of Mexico has been closed. That area extends from the U.S./Mexico border to the Alabama/Florida boundary. The National Marine Fisheries Service said the commercial quota of 1 million pounds of king mackerel has been reached. The fishery will reopen on June 30th, 2010.
