County Commissioners will interview two companies next month that are interested designing and building the new urgent care clinic in Carrabelle. The local hospital advisory board selected the two companies from a list of 9 that applied for the work. The two companies that are still in the running are Childers construction and Ajax Construction both from the Tallahassee area. County Planner Alan Pierce said both companies worked on the Gadsden County hospital renovation and are familiar with constructing medical facilities. The county commission will hold interviews with the companies on November the 3rd. The 5000 square foot Urgent Care clinic, which is expected to be complete next summer, will cost an estimated million dollars to construct – that money has already been raised through a one cent sales tax approved by voters last year. The new clinic will provide work space for two doctors and include 6 exam rooms, plus x-ray and lab services and urgent care for emergency cases.
