Last week marked the 19th consecutive week with no swimming advisories in Franklin County but health officials said they did find bacteria in water samples taken from three beaches. The health department released its beach water quality results late Friday and said they found moderate concentrations of the enterococcus bacteria in water samples taken from 11th street west on St. George Island as well as Carrabelle Beach and Alligator Point. The concentrations were not high enough to issue swimming advisories for any of those sites. Water samples from the St. George Island public beach, the State park and 11th street east showed no bacteria that could pose a danger to swimmers. There were also no swimming advisories issued for Wakulla County last week though for Gulf County it was a different matter. There was an advisory issued for all 5 beaches tested in Gulf County last week after high concentrations of the enterococcus bacteria were found in water samples taken there.
