Smokey Parrish remains Franklin County Commission chairman

The Franklin County Commission has a new vice-chairman. On Tuesday the board agreed unanimously to let current chairman Smokey Parrish hold his seat for another year. District 3 commissioner Noah Lockley was chosen to replace Bevin Putnal as vice chairman. Normally the board allows the chairmanship and vice chair’s position to rotate every year so that all of the commissioners have the chance to hold the positions at least once. Commissioner Cheryl Sanders, however, said she did not want to be chairperson because of the time constraints and commissioner Pinki Jackel said she doesn’t feel she has the experience yet to take over the chairmanship especially with all of the major issues currently facing Franklin County.
