Flood warning still in effect as Apalachicola River rises

A flood warning remains in effect for areas along the Apalachicola River including Franklin, Gulf, Calhoun and Liberty Counties.

River levels were falling last week but are now back on the rise. The river was at 18.4 feet at Blountstown on Monday and is expected to rise to nearly 20 feet today.

Flood stage for the Apalachicola River is 15 feet. River levels are not expected to fall below 15 feet until sometime over the weekend.

All people with interests along the river should monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to protect life and property. Do not walk or drive cars through flooded areas.
